What is a place of Public Accommodation?

A place of public accommodation is any establishment, service, place or building which offers, sells, or otherwise makes available to the public any goods, services, facility, privileges or advantages.

Who can file

An individual may file a complaint if he/she has been denied full and equal enjoyment of goods, services, or facilities offered to the general public because of:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National Origin
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Gender Identity
  • Status/Disability
  • Familial Status
  • Marital Status
  • Ancestry
  • Pregnancy
  • Age

Time Limits for Filing a Public Accommodations Complaint

A complaint must be filed within 180 days after the alleged discriminatory act(s) occurred.
