D.A.W.N. Participants' Testimonies

We have dedicated this page to the participants that want give a testimonial about how the D.A.W.N. Program has made a difference in their lives.

"First and foremost, I would like to start off by thanking Mr. Terry Powell and the DAWN program. Also, I would like to give thanks to my mother. She has been my greatest supporter and the person I have always looked up to. It has been a long road to travel down but I finally made it. During my time in the Duval County jail, I decided that I could be accomplishing something. I've learned that no matter the situation, you can bring positive things out of it. One important thing that made me so determined to get my diploma was to make my mother proud of me.

Getting my high school diploma had motivated me to continue my education further. For the simple reason that when I obtained my diploma, I reached a level of accomplishment that has set a standard for me to excel further in my education. I would like to conclude by saying "be thankful for what you now and keep fighting for what you want to be tomorrow. Thank you."

The DAWN Program is a excellent program, besides getting your high school diploma, it also teaches you how to be or become a better person. For example, before joining the DAWN  class, I had a very bad anger problem, the urge to give up and I wasn't confident. Mr. Powell noticed that I was a determined worker and was eager to learn new things. But the challenge came when he applied pressure to get the best out of me. The program was not easy but at the same time, it wasn't that hard. The more I was in class, the more I became confident. As time passed by, I became a leader and a mentor. I am very hon ored to be a DAWN's Men.
