Programs

VOAD

VOAD logo(Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster) N.E. Florida VOAD is a coalition comprised of local response agencies from the public, private, faith-based and nonprofit sectors that cooperatively provide and implement resources when responding to disasters. These coalitions serve their communities by fostering more effective service to people affected by disaster through communication, coordination, cooperation, collaboration, convening mechanisms and outreach. Members include the N. E. Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Volunteer Jacksonville, etc.

JEMA

F;R logoThe Jacksonville Emergency Medical Auxiliary, (JEMA), is a group of volunteers who maintain their skills in EMS through riding on Jacksonville Fire/Rescue (JFRD) rescue units, training at the JFRD Regional Training Center, and working different events in the City of Jacksonville. These events include the Jaguars' games, concerts, River Run and other special events. JEMA assists in providing life saving emergency medical care alongside JFRD personnel.

CERT

JaxCERT logo(Community Emergency Response Team) JaxCERT - is a group of citizens organized and trained to recognize, respond to and recover from a major emergency or disaster situation. JaxCERT training provides Duval County residents the decision-making and physical skills needed to address the urgent needs of their community when professional First Responders and emergency personnel are not immediately available.

Medical Reserve Corps

MRC logoThis program is designed to assist the Duval County Health Department by building a team of healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, mental health and support personnel that will activate and augment the existing medical response during a man-made or natural disaster.

ARES

ARES logoDuval County Amateur Radio Emergency Services is made up of private and local FCC licensed volunteers of the Amateur Radio community that aid and assist any individual, local organization or government agency in emergency situations such as disasters and community events by providing communication support as needed.

Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch logoThis program is a citizen-based initiative that recreates the partnership between community and law enforcement. Neighborhood Watch is simply a program of neighbors watching out for other neighbors and reporting suspicious activity to the police. The Neighborhood Watch Program also teaches you how to secure your home properly and steps you can  take to reduce the chances of becoming a victim. Operation Identification, which is part of the Neighborhood Watch Program, will increase the chances of recovering your property if you do become a victim.

VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service)

Community Posse

VIPS logo A Community Posse Officer is an auxiliary, uniformed, unarmed volunteer who is trained in crime prevention and works directly under the supervision of the Community Posse Coordinator. Members participate in assigned functions for the Office of the Sheriff including Neighborhood Watch Programs, static displays and health fairs, community meetings and JSO Community Affairs programs for 'Crime Prevention'.

ShAdCo (Sheriff's Advisory Councils)

SHADCOs exist for the express purpose of assisting the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in every way possible: this includes community interaction, image building, strengthening of neighborhood relations, reporting of suspected criminal activity, helping solve traffic, patrol, safety and communication problems, promoting youth outreach and athletic activities, and formulation of a model citizen law enforcement assistance program.

Civil Air Patrol

Civil Air Patrol logoCAP is the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. CAP increases our nation's security capabilities by providing airborne reconnaissance and imagery, disaster and damage assessment, airborne transportation of personnel, equipment and critical supplies, and multi-layered communications support. CAP can provide manpower for communications and emergency operations centers, search and rescue teams, and ground support teams.
