Jacksonville Film & Television Rising Star Award

Andrew Howell, 2011 Rising StarIn an effort to recognize the talents and accomplishments of individuals who are under 40 in the film and television industry in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Film & Television Office has established the Rising Star Award. This award will be given annually to up to three individuals who have made significant contributions to our local production community and are under the age of 40. The award will be presented during the annual Film & TV Industry reception on September 27, 2012.


Criteria/Eligibility

All candidates are required to have a primary residence in Northeast Florida and be under the age of 40 at the time they submit an application. Their professions could include directors, producers, directors of photography, gaffers, writers, performers and/or any other industry-related position. Nominees should excel in their specific craft and show progressive advancement in their career. Candidates should also have a respected reputation within the industry/community, serve as a role model and stand out as potential “stars of the future.” Any community service/volunteer involvement (within or outside the production industry) will be viewed as an asset.

Application Requirements / Deadlines

Applications may be submitted any time throughout the year. The deadline to submit nominations for the 2012 award is Friday, June 22, 2012. Applications must include:
  • The Rising Star Nomination Form 
  • At least one letter of reference from an industry professional 
  • Sample of work - either a sample reel or portfolio of nominee's work. Acceptable formats: Websites (Vimeo, YouTube, Flickr, deviantART), weblinks, file sharing, or DVDs. All material (besides DVD) must be submitted electronically to the Film & Television Office.
