Film & Television Office
The Jacksonville Film & Television Office, a division of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission (JEDC), has a significant impact on Jacksonville's economy and job creation by actively marketing and attracting new film, television and commercial business to the area.
Over the past two years, the Jacksonville Film & Television Office permitted and assisted 110 productions that generated over $8.7 million in local economic impact, creating more than 1,600 jobs and utilizing more than 4,200 hotel room nights. The Film Office assisted with the passage of the state legislation to double the State Film Incentive Fund to $10.8 million The Film Office is a consistent and considerable revenue generator for the city.
Services
The Film & Television Office assists local and visiting productions with facilitating permits, provides preliminary location scouting and engages the local workforce and vendor resources. The Film Office serves as the liaison between the city, Production Company and the local film community.
Some services the Film Office provides include inner-agency assistance such as: Risk Management for insurance liability requirements; Traffic Engineer for road closures; Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department for public safety (pyrotechnics, explosions, stunts); City Public Buildings, Parks & Recreation for filming on City property and refers customers to State and Federal agencies.
Free One Stop Permitting
Jacksonville has a consolidated government,which means there is only one mayor, one sheriff, one fire chief and one traffic engineer for Jacksonville's 840 square mile area. The Film & Television office acts as a one-stop service center for all film permitting. In addition, the staff works with other city agencies such as the fire and police departments to coordinate production requests. Consider us the one-stop shopping place for all your production needs.
Preliminary Location Scouting
The Film & Television office houses an extensive library of location photographs that is constantly being updated. Upon request, these photographs are sent to prospective clients to match script requirements with appropriate, accessible locations. If there is a request for a location that is in Jacksonville yet not housed in the library archives, then staff will do a preliminary location scout of the requested areas.
Crew Availability
The Film & Television office has a database of qualified technical staff and support services in the Jacksonville area and publishes an annual Film & Television Production Guide that provides local crew listings, technical support information and local soundstage and facility availability. The production guide is free to all people considering doing business in the Jacksonville area.

Once a production has decided to film in Jacksonville, the Film & Television office facilitates all production requests.
Film & Television Advisory Board
The Mayor appoints members to the board for staggered three-year terms. The members are all professionals who are interested in the film and video industry or are professionals in the city whose expertise in television, motion picture, marketing and the public relations industry enable them to act in an advisory capacity. Statewide Economic Impact
Statewide, the economic impact of the film industry has been vast. According to the Hass Center Business Research and Economic Development, in 2007, film and entertainment-related spending accounted for $17.9 billion, employing 101,897 individuals directly within the industry at an average annual wage of $57,700.[1] Due to spending in the industry supply chain and industry payrolls, jobs were created in other parts of Florida's economy. These indirect jobs included:[2]

10,810 jobs in retail trade
The Haas Center study also stated that Jacksonville and area production and post-production service company's revenue totaled over $140 million during 2007.
