Each year, the JAX Chamber hosts the Military Appreciation Luncheon to show gratitude for the area’s outstanding active duty and retired military personnel. This event is a Chamber tradition, honoring the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, and the many veterans of past wars living in Jacksonville. The Military Appreciation Luncheon has become Jacksonville’s most recognized venue for honoring its local military for their outstanding commitment to the country.

2012 Veterans SummitVeterans Summit

Veterans Summit draws attention to the needs and challenges of today’s veterans regarding employment and other important issues. The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services Department organized the summit in partnership with UNF’s Military and Veterans Resource Center.

The inaugural Veterans Summit provided service members, veterans and their families a chance to take part in a dialogue regarding the challenges and needs of local veterans. Attendees participated in breakout Sessions moderated by local subject matter experts in the fields of ADA accessibility, PTSD and Human Resources.

The hometown Jacksonville Jaguars took on the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League's Military Appreciation Game at EverBank Field.

The job fair matched area employers with job opportunities for transitioning military personnel, Veterans, and their families. Over 60 Veteran-friendly employers were present, as well as many career assistance agencies.

The University of Florida Gators took on the Georgetown Hoyas at Naval Station Mayport on the filght deck of the USS Bataan in a nationally televised basketball game organized by the City of Jacksonville.

Veterans Day ParadeVeterans Day Parade

The City of Jacksonville and the Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services Department holds an annual parade in Downtown Jacksonville to honor the men and women of the United States Military who have fought to preserve our nation's freedom.
