Maddie's Fund: Duval County Coalition
Animal Care and Protective Services has joined with area pet placement partners in a community coalition with a shared mission of finding homes for all of the adoptable and treatable animals entering Duval county shelters each year. Supported by Maddie's Fund® The Pet Recue Foundation, the community collaborative has set a goal of ending the killing of all healthy and treatable companion animals in the next five years.
While the goal will present some challenges, ACPS has the confidence that working together this community can solve this problem.
'A combination of recent initiatives has already paved the foundation for success, now we need to engage the community to come forward and help us achieve this community goal,' said ACPS Chief Scott Trebatoski. 'If any community has all of the right people, community support and ability to reach this goal it is Duval County and the City of Jacksonville. We look forward to the day we can celebrate the end of adoptable companion animals ever having to die in a shelter simply because they were unwanted or could not find a home.'
Maddie's Fund®, The Pet Rescue Foundation is a family foundation funded by Workday and PeopleSoft Founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl. Maddie's Fund is helping to create a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home. To achieve this goal, Maddie's Fund is investing its resources in building community collaborations where animal welfare organizations come together to develop successful models of lifesaving.
