Team Mascots Available for Photo Opportunities Prior to Basketball Game

Holiday Hoops Game with Florida Gators vs. Rider Broncs

The City of Jacksonville welcomes the University of Florida Gators and the Rider University Broncs for their upcoming Holiday Hoops Classic basketball game on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Both team mascots will be available before the game so bring a camera for photo opportunities.

Mayor Brown - Media Availability Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic

It is almost game time! Mayor Alvin Brown will be available to talk with the media about the Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic and his plan to make Jacksonville a destination for major sporting events. He will also tour RV City and the BBQ Competition Block Party.
                        


Mayor Brown and JSO to Host News Conference to Discuss Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic Weekend

Mayor Alvin Brown and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office will host a news conference to provide information on relevant traffic updates, as well as many of the entertainment options and activities available for residents and visitors during the Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic.

Friendship Fountain Restoration

A grand reopening celebration and dedication was held at Friendship Fountain Park on June 18, 2011, to mark the conclusion of a nine-month long restoration project of the fountain. The project restored one of downtown’s most prominent landmarks that all can enjoy.

Music Video Filmed in Downtown Jacksonville

On May 9, 2011, national recording band, Theory of a Deadman, filmed a music video in Downtown Jacksonville and surrounding areas. Actor Donal Logue (Blade, The Patriot and Zodiac) was featured in the video along with the band members. The video will air on MTV this summer.

Maritime Museum Now Open at Jacksonville Landing

The Jacksonville Maritime Museum has moved to a 9,000 sq. ft. first floor space inside the Jacksonville Landing. Previously located on the Southbank Riverwalk, the museum began the move in December and had its official grand opening on April 9, 2011.
