About Pine Forest Elementary School Park

Pine Forest Elementary School Park is located southwest of the Emerson Street and Philips Highway intersection in Southside. Pine Forest was settled in the nineteenth century, mostly by African-Americans who worked for people in South Jacksonville. The School Board acquired the property in 1959 and built the school in 1960. The City and the Board have a joint-use agreement for the athletic/playground facilities. The park is home to the Pine Forest Athletic Association, a 30-year-old volunteer organization that currently serves about 200 area youth through its football, cheerleading, and baseball programs. Major renovations of the concession stand and football field were completed in 2002 as part of the City’s special emphasis on improving the area’s recreational facilities Additional features:
