About Warrington Park

Warrington Park is located adjacent to the Woodland Acres Elementary School in east Jacksonville. In 1955, Walter C. and Bernice I. Warrington donated most of the park property to Duval County, which also purchased an additional parcel for the park. The school was built the next year, and after development, the County park opened in early 1958. Walter C. Warrington (1879-1965) was a real estate broker and former City Councilman, who served as chairman of the parks and boulevard committee in 1915. He later established one of his businesses (Warrington Realty Company) on Galveston Avenue, in the vicinity of the park site. Additions to the park have included a health clinic in 1974, a swimming pool in 1977, and a senior center around 1980. Over the years, school officials and the Woodland Acres Neighborhood Association (since the latter 1990’s) have taken an active interest in improving the park. Additional features:
