Enforcement

All exterior work completed in the historic districts or to a local landmark requires an approved Certificate of Appropriateness (COA). A COA is required for such work as repairs, alterations, additions, new construction, demolition, relocation, sidewalks, fences, window replacements and driveways.

Work must be done in compliance with the approved COA. If work is done without an approved COA or out of compliance with the approved COA, it is in violation of Chapter 307.

The Historic Preservation Inspector carries out enforcement action on these violations and provides inspections to confirm compliance with an approved COA.

To report a violation or request an inspection, please call our office at (904) 255-7859 or report the violation by calling MyJax at (904) 630-CITY.
