Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic announces return to EverBank Field

The third annual Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic will be played Feb. 17, 2013 at EverBank Field, as another highlight of an increasingly busy February for sports fans.

Penn State will take on Denver in the opening game at 2 p.m., followed by Jacksonville University playing Ohio State in the biggest men’s lacrosse event in the Southeast. NBC Sports Network is scheduled to broadcast both matches. This year’s event will also have a high school day on Mon., Feb. 18, when 18 high school teams are scheduled to play at EverBank throughout the day.

Mayor Alvin Brown joined Jacksonville University Athletic Director Brad Edwards, JU Men’s Lacrosse Coach Guy Van Arsdale and Moe’s franchise owner Brad Chasteen on Monday to announce the return of the Classic.

“These events are excellent opportunities to open doors and tell the Jacksonville story to the world,” said Mayor Brown. “I want to thank Jacksonville University and Moe’s for all of the hard work that goes into building a great fan experience in our city.”

Tickets are $21 for general admission and $16 for groups of 10 or more. They are available at the Veterans Memorial Arena box office or at ticketmaster.com.

February will be an exciting month for major events in Jacksonville. Along with the lacrosse events, Jacksonville will host:
  • The Davis Cup tennis championships starting Feb. 1;
  • An international-friendly soccer match between the U.S. Women’s National Team and Scotland on Feb. 9;
  • The first of three annual Major League Soccer exhibition games with the Philadelphia Union on Feb. 15; and
  • Monster Jam on Feb. 23.
