What is Summer Night Lights?
Summer Night Lights is all about improving quality of life for our youth and our neighborhoods. The program's goal is to reduce youth-related crime and violence and provide our young people with ideas and experiences to help ensure a brighter future.
The program features three elements: a teen squad that provides employment opportunities for select youth ages 15 to 21, expansive programming and activities that introduce youngsters to the opportunities they have to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others, and an amazing network of city and community partners working together to help reduce crime and increase neighborhood pride.
JaxParks will keep the lights on from 7 p.m. to midnight at select parks this summer, beginning June 22 through Aug. 11. Activities will include expansive programs, entertainment, sports and water fun. The focus is youth ages 13 to 21, but everyone is invited. Teen squad members will be employed at each site to assist with programming and marketing efforts.
