JACKSONVILLE, FL (August 12, 2013) – At 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 police responded to 5663 Greenland Road in reference to a missing person.
Suspect: Shannon Nicole Campbell
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a family member of Shannon Campbell stating they had been receiving text messages from her that concerned them. The text messages stated Campbell was being held against her will by an unnamed individual because she owed money for drugs. The suspect told the complainant to transfer $2000 via Western Union to secure Campbell’s release. The suspect advised via texts that if the money was not sent, she would be killed.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office used every resource possible in the search for Ms. Campbell. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and began an investigation. Members of the JSO’s Criminal Apprehension Team also assisted in attempting to locate Campbell.
The suspect was located on Monday, August 12, 2013 around 12:30 a.m. at 3933 Abby Lane. Campbell was located in good health with no apparent injuries.
Shannon Campbell was transported to the police station for an interview. During the interview she admitted to lying about being kidnapped and held against her will. She stated she made the story up so she could get money from her mother. The suspect admitted that at no time was a crime being committed against her and she knew what she was doing was wrong.
The suspect, Shannon Campbell was arrested for Filing a False Police Report and was transported to jail.
