Becoming a Process Server
Each month the Sheriff of Duval County appoints individuals to serve non-enforceable civil process under the provisions of Florida Statute 48.021 for a one year period.
To qualify for this appointment
, a completed application, fingerprinting for a background investigation and a fee must be submitted to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office prior to the examination.
NOTE: A background investigation must be successfully completed before testing can take place.
The cost to process and/or become a newly appointed process server is an $80 nonrefundable fee. The cost to renew an appointment is a $55 nonrefundable fee.
A $100 refundable deposit is required before a process server badge will be issued.
Application forms cannot be mailed. Applications for individuals and businesses may be printed online or picked up at the Police Memorial Building, 501 E. Bay Street. Please fill out the appropriate forms provided below and take them to the Police Memorial Building, 501 E. Bay Street, Jacksonville, Fl., 32202, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., except holidays.
All applicants (new or renewals) will complete training online at the link provided below (Process Server Training Manual). Hard copies of manual will be provided upon request.
All applicants (new or renewals) must take a process server examination. Testing is conducted at the Police Memorial Building, 501 E. Bay Street, at 9 a.m. (see dates below). Applicants should be at the Forsyth Street entrance at least 10 minutes prior to the examination. Applications must be submitted by the end of the business day on the Friday before the test date.
NOTE: Applicants will be notified by the Process Server Coordinator if accepted for testing. A test score of 76% is passing.
