As of Saturday, June 11, 2011, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's responsibility for the school resource officer program was discontinued. The program will fall under the direction of the Duval County Public School Police Department (DSPSPD).
The JSO will respond to all calls on public school property that do not have a DCPSPD officer present, complete a report if required, and route the report to the DCPSPD for follow-up investigations. JSO will oversee all criminal investigations involving capital offenses such as murder and sexual battery.
The JSO will also respond to traffic crashes on school campuses that do not have an assigned DCPSPD School Resource Officer.
