The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Investigations Division is under the direction of the Chief of Investigations who is responsible for the overall operation of the division. The division is comprised of a Crimes Against Property section and a Crimes Against Persons section both under the command of an Assistant Chief. Please use the links below, or on the left hand navigation bar for more information.

The primary function of the Investigations Division is to conduct follow-up investigations of crimes. Cases are reviewed by a detective supervisor and screened for solvability factors. Detectives are assigned cases using a system based on solvability factors. Detectives from specialized units are assigned to investigate crimes on the basis of expertise. For example, death cases are assigned to the detectives in the Homicide Unit, sexual assault cases are assigned to detectives in the Special Assault Unit, etc.
