The International Affairs Unit (IAU) seeks to reduce crime in the non-English speaking community by educating residents about crime prevention. Members of the IAU routinely attend community functions and work with the Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Board to build relationships with the residents to develop open lines of communication. Members of the unit initiate contact with non-English speaking residents by visiting apartment complexes and neighborhoods to discuss crime prevention methods.
The International Affairs Unit also serves as a liaison between the Sheriff's Office and the non-English speaking community. The primary function of the unit is to address crimes that affect those residents who may be reluctant to otherwise report them.
Sheriff's Watch - Español
The goal of Sheriff's Watch - Español meetings is to help bridge the relationship between JSO and citizens in the Hispanic community and provide a way to get information from JSO about safety concerns and solutions. This is also an opportunity to speak one-on-one with the police about crime issues in your neighborhood. For information about an upcoming meeting please call the International Affairs Unit at (904) 630-0914.
