Hostage Negotiator Team

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Hostage Negotiator Team responds to incidents involving hostage situations, barricaded suspects, and crisis/suicide intervention. The team falls under the Division of Homeland Security, but the members are assigned throughout the agency.

Members of the team train vigorously and often; both alone and with the SWAT Team. A team psychologist is contracted to conduct training with the team each month. Training consists of reviewing mental health issues as they are related to negotiations, communications and crisis intervention.
