JACKSONVILLE, FL (August 8, 2018) - On Tuesday, August 7th, neighbors came together all over Jacksonville to participate in National Night Out. The planned events are designed to strenghten neighborhoods, increase awareness about the importance of crime prevention and reporting, and reinforce positive police/neighborhood relationships.

Tuesday's events began earlier in the day at NAS Jacksonville and ended with an evening of activities ranging from neighbors leaving their porch lights on to show their solidarity in the fight against crime to covered dish suppers and street parties.

Sheriff Mike Williams, members of his appointed staff and officers from all six patrol zones stopped by many of the planned neighborhood events throughout the city to thank citizens for their partnership in the fight against crime.

This year marks the 32nd year that JSO and Jacksonville citizens participated in this event and the 35th year for the national initiative known as National Night Out.

The 2019 event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
