JACKSONVILLE, FL (January 16, 2018) - The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce a new partnership with Bethune-Cookman University to provide training sessions for our sworn members that will focus on building and maintaining community trust. These training sessions will equip our members with expanded strategies to establish positive relationships with the diverse community we serve, as well as minimize cultural misunderstandings and negative interactions. Discussions with Bethune-Cookman began in Summer 2017 and culminated in the acceptance of their proposed program in September 2017. Sheriff Williams believes this is a highly effective way to spend funds that were allocated for agency training. Sworn members of various ranks will begin training next week.
