The Sheriff's Monthly Awards Ceremony

Each month Sheriff John H. Rutherford holds an award ceremony to honor outstanding employees within JSO.
Each Employee of the Month recipient is nominated by other JSO employees. Winners are chosen by the Meritorious Awards Review Committee. In addition, six businesses in Jacksonville sponsor the awards, and each winner receives special recognition for their outstanding performance by the sponsor.
The award categories are as follows:
- Police Officer of the Month, sponsored by Nimnicht Chevrolet Company
- Corrections Officer of the Month, sponsored by Coggin Nissan at the Avenues
- Civilian Employee of the Month, sponsored by Solantic Baptist Urgent Care
- Reserve Officer or Volunteer of the Month by G4S Secure Solutions, Inc.
- Police Supervisor of the Month, sponsored by Stein Mart, Inc.
- Corrections or Civilian Supervisor of the Month, sponsored by First Coast Security Services, Inc.
Six Pillars of Character Award
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has partnered with CHARACTER COUNTS! in Jacksonvil
le to present the monthly Six Pillars of Character Award. The award is for any JSO employee who demonstrates one of the Six Pillars of Character; trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Nominations are open to the public.

Other Employee Recognition Programs
Continuous Improvement Employee of the Quarter, sponsored by Ruth's Chris Steak House started in January 2011.
The Continuous Improvement Employee of the Quarter award is given to any JSO employee who has embodied the philosophies of continuous improvement and/or implemented improvements in processes and/or physical areas. In order to be eligible, the recipient cannot have received recognition in any other category for the same continuous improvement initiative. Nominations can be made within the agency.
The award is given quarterly at the Sheriff's Meritorious Awards Ceremony.
Employee of the Year
At the beginning of each year, Sheriff Rutherford recognizes eight JSO employees who best represent the Sheriff's Office Core Values: Worthy of Trust, Always Improving, Respect for Each Other and Community Focused.
The eight recipients of the Employee of the Year Award were all former Employees of the Month, Six Pillars of Character or Continous Improvement of the Quarter recipients during the previous year. These outstanding employees work day-in and day-out demonstrating excellence and commitment to their chosen profession of law enforcement.
JSO Celebrates Retirees
Sheriff Rutherford holds a semi-annual retirement celebration for all employees who are retiring or have recently retired from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
"These employees have been 'Riding for the Brand' for many years and have marked their careers with honesty, integrity, and excellence. Upon their retirement, they should be properly recognized and acknowledged by us all for their dedication and commitment," said Sheriff Rutherford.
The next Retirement Celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
