Six Pillars of Character Award

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is proud to work with the Josephson Institute of Ethics to present the CHARACTER COUNTS! Award. The award is for any JSO employee who demonstrates one of the Six Pillars of Character; trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Nominations are open to the public.

Other Employee Recognition Programs

Continuous Improvement Employee of the Quarter, sponsored by Ruth's Chris Steak House started in January 2011.

The Continuous Improvement Employee of the Quarter award is given to any JSO employee who has embodied the philosophies of continuous improvement and/or implemented improvements in processes and/or physical areas. In order to be eligible, the recipient cannot have received recognition in any other category for the same continuous improvement initiative. Nominations can be made within the agency.

The award is given quarterly at the Sheriff's Meritorious Awards Ceremony.

Employee of the Year

At the beginning of each year, the Sheriff recognizes eight JSO employees who best represent the Sheriff's Office Core Values: Worthy of Trust, Always Improving, Respect for Each Other and Community Focused.

The eight recipients of the Employee of the Year Award were all former Employees of the Month, Six Pillars of Character or Continous Improvement of the Quarter recipients during the previous year. These outstanding employees work day-in and day-out demonstrating excellence and commitment to their chosen profession of law enforcement.
