Stormwater & Solid Waste Fees

We have received a lot of questions regarding the solid waste fee on the 2011 tax bills.  The information below is directly from the City Fees web site:

The solid waste collection assessment is $12.65 per month; this fee covers the cost of collection of household garbage, yard waste and recycling.

In 2010, customers were charged at different monthly rates.  Between Jan - Sept, the rate was $5 per month, based on previously existing law.  However, the law changed to set the new $12.65 rate effective Oct. 1, 2010.  So, the total fee in 2010 of $82.95 per residence was comprised of nine months at $5 per month and three months at $12.65 per month.
