lifting the legacy

Dear Citizens,

When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the marble steps of the Lincoln Memorial on that August day in 1963, he laid out a bold new vision for our nation. He spoke of a dream in which all Americans could live in a nation of equality, shared prosperity, and justice.

More than 50 years later, we are building on his promise with deliberate and bold actions that lift the legacy of Dr. King and contribute to efforts that make his dream a reality.

The future of Jacksonville is in our hands, for us to shape and mold. I challenge each of you to take a stand for their community by volunteering – this Martin Luther King Jr. Day and beyond – and make a year-round commitment to be a force for good in our city.

There are numerous opportunities to get involved, from organizing a cleanup in your neighborhood, to providing meals to families in need, to mentoring a child. The important thing is that you take that step to lift the legacy of Dr. King.
Working together, we can help build a stronger One City. One Jacksonville. for us all.

Warm Regards,
