City Councilman Al Ferraro and I were privileged to spend some time with an amazing group of men on Wednesday. We joined a Public Works crew conducting pothole repairs along Whittaker Road on the northside.
It’s important to come out from behind our desks and meet face to face with the men and women serving citizens and communities in our city. I am grateful for the work they lead that contributes to the safety and quality of our roadways.
These guys put in hard work and long hours in extreme temperatures and work conditions. It’s a tough and important job that has great impact throughout Jacksonville.
In the last year, Public Works crews have repaired nearly 1,660 potholes. And they’re responsible for the maintenance of 3,700 miles of roadway. To put that in perspective, that’s a cross-country trip from Jacksonville to California and halfway back.
With this same diligence, my administration is working hard to support efforts that are improving infrastructure and long-neglected conditions throughout Jacksonville.
