I recently had the honor of attending a membership luncheon for the Jacksonville Bar Association where I presented a proclamation to celebrate Pro Bono Week in Jacksonville.
Every year, thousands of Jacksonville area residents are faced with domestic violence, divorce, child custody, eviction, mortgage foreclosure, and elder abuse challenges. Many lack access to affordable legal assistance, forcing them to resolve complex legal problems on their own.
I am deeply grateful for the thousands of hours in free legal services and generous financial support provided by area legal professionals. These contributions are critical to our community’s well-being and enhance the lives of many of Jacksonville’s most vulnerable citizens.
When I took the oath of office, I committed to lead toward a vision for One City. One Jacksonville. But it takes more than city government to accomplish this lofty goal; it takes all of us. It requires hard work, contributions, and engagement from our entire community.
As mayor, I encourage all members of the legal community to get involved by contributing time and resources to legal services and organizations that support underserved and low-income residents in our community.
