Jacksonville Retirement System
This seven-person office manages and administers the city’s General Employees Pension Plan and the Corrections Officers Pension Plan. The office processes member requests and retirement information for the more than 4,600 retirees and 5,700 active employee participants.

The Retirement System has two individual Advisory Committees (one for General Employees and one for Correction Officers).
Per Chapter 120 of the Ordinance Code, the Advisory Committees shall have the following administrative duties with regard to their respective memberships:
(1) Review and recommend action to the Board on all applications for membership and benefits;
(2) Conduct inquiry into disability applications and recommend final action to the Board
(3) Recommend to the Board amendments to the System documents;
(4) No benefit or allowance shall be paid from the Plan without first being reviewed by the Advisory Committee.
