The Information Technology Department operates, maintains and safeguards the city’s technology infrastructure. The department is staffed by 165 employees who deliver quality and innovative information technology solutions that provide convenient access to city information and services.
The Information Technology Department provides technology solutions based on a shared vision and a collaborative environment with the agencies and departments it supports. This allows city government to more effectively and efficiently capitalize on economies of scale and deliver transformative solutions for the citizens of Jacksonville.
2011 Budget:
The total budget for these Internal Service Funds is $43,155,129.
During the fiscal year 2011 budget process, the Information Technology Department:
- Eliminated three positions
- Privatized desktop services, which resulted in eliminating another 20 positions.
- Significantly reduced expenses related to hardware/software maintenance and license agreements, professional services, parts/repair and telecommunication services. A portion of this reduction was achieved by eliminating vendor support and utilizing existing staff to handle system repairs.
2010 Budget:
The total budget for these Internal Service Funds was $46,756,257.
