Office of the Director
The Office of the Director consists of the Grants Administration and Research Department, the Finance and Management Services Department and Community Outreach. The Office of the Director oversees all general operations of the Commission, and under the governance of its board of directors, it ensures that the city’s money earmarked for children provides the best value for taxpayers and families.
The Grant Administration, Evaluation and Research Department is responsible for the planning, administration and evaluation of approximately 180 grants to youth-serving agencies and programs. Programs include Healthy Families home visitors, mental health, mentoring, after-school, out-of-school suspension programs, youth crime prevention services, summer camps and programs for homeless children and those with special needs.
The Finance and Management Services Department provides contract development and financial accountability services and oversees the Child Nutrition Program, which provides healthy snacks and meals to children in after-school programs and during the summer through neighborhood distribution sites.
The Community Outreach Manager is responsible for the Commission’s website, materials, community partnerships and special events, including JaxKids Day.
2011 Budget:
The budget for the Office of the Director is $22,085,296. This budget includes funding approved by City Council for all of The Jacksonville Journey programs managed by the Commission.

Did You Know?
In 2011, the Commission will touch the lives of about 40,000 of Jacksonville’s children, many of whom live in our poorest and most challenged neighborhoods, by providing after-school programs to nearly 10,000 children, offering continued learning for 5,000 children over the summer, providing 805,000 nutritious snacks and meals after school and ensuring approximately 8,000 children receive nutritious snacks and meals every weekday for 10 weeks during the summer.
