Training, Evaluation and Research (Training and Workforce Development)
Positive adult/child relationships are at the core of every successful prevention and early intervention program; however, the average person who works with children makes less than $10 an hour and does not hold a degree in child development, education or a related field. Therefore, the Children’s Commission invests in this workforce of volunteers and staff, as well as parents who want to learn more about child development and health, child safety, positive youth development, communicating with children and youth, and other topics that help them do a better job. This division also provides training, screening and agency referrals for volunteers who want to become mentors.
