This department plans, permits and regulates construction in the city. Its goal is to create a city of distinctive, healthy and sustainable neighborhoods. Within it are five divisions:
2011 Budget:
The total budget, which includes the General Fund and Special Revenue Funds for the Planning and Development Department is $17,800,493.
The General Fund - GSD budget is $7,473,512.
During the fiscal year 2011 budget process, the Planning and Development Department:
- Eliminated four positions
- Reduced telecommunication, information technology, building rental and tax collector charges
- Reduced salaries, benefits and supplies by nearly $475,000
2010 Budget:
The total budget, which included the General Fund and Special Revenue Funds for the Planning and Development Department was $18,435,723.
The General Fund - GSD budget was $7,916,202.
