Public Buildings

This division has 135 employees that provide security, custodial and maintenance services for all public buildings. The staff maintains more than 600 buildings, which total approximately eight million square feet.  
 
Public Buildings also maintains all park and ball field lighting for 260 parks and 17 boat ramps. The division maintains park restrooms, dugouts, concessions stands, pavilions, 36 public swimming pools and six fountains including Friendship Fountain. 
 
The staff also provides support and set up for numerous citywide special events including the delivery and set up of stages, bleachers, tables, chairs and electrical services. Included in the Public Buildings Division budget is payment for all utilities used at various public facilities and parks. 
 
In support of the city’s sustainability efforts, the division will continue its work to reduce energy consumption through the use of more efficient lighting and plumbing.  
 
2011 Budget:
The operating budget for this division is approximately $33,724,874.
 
 
2010 Budget:
The operating budget for this division was approximately $33,382,156.
