Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services

This division works with active duty members and their families, veterans and the disabled.  It increases awareness of the successes and needs of the disabled, monitors legislation pertaining to the disabled and helps advise on compliance issues and decisions. It also assists veterans and their families when applying for social and educational assistance. This division has 18 employees.
 
This division serves nearly 200,000 veterans and 34,000 active duty service members in Jacksonville, as it works to make our city the most military-friendly community in the nation.  
 
It also works to improve the lives of the disabled, who make up 20 percent of the city’s population.  The division concentrates on removing barriers that block the assimilation of the disabled into becoming full and active members of the community.
