Jacksonville Photos Sought for “This Place Matters”® National Campaign

March 27, 2017
What place matters to you? This year’s National Preservation Month (May 2017) theme, “This Place Matters,” hopes to answer this through the National Trust for Historic Preservation's nationwide photo campaign encouraging people to celebrate the places in their communities that are most meaningful to them.
Participants are asked to share photos that will inspire ongoing dialog about the importance of historic preservation in communities throughout the nation. To encourage local participation, the City of Jacksonville Historic Preservation Section of the Planning and Development department will share a selection of photos from the campaign at this year’s Historic Preservation Commission Preservation Awards ceremony (May 11).

Jacksonville residents can participate by visiting https://savingplaces.org/this-place-matters#.WNVqL1UrKM_, downloading and printing a “This Place Matters” sign, taking photos with the sign at the places that matter most to them, and sharing the photos on social media using #ThisPlaceMatters. Photos can also be submitted by email to the City of Jacksonville Historic Preservation Section at HistoricPreservation@coj.net using “This Place Matters” in the subject line by April 11th.
