One big draw of the Free Family Fun Day at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center will be the famous Extreme Mustang Makeover. The event will begin on May 18 and last through the Family Fun Day on May 20. The event features brave horse trainers who have taken on the extreme challenge of transforming a wild mustang from feral to rideable in just 100 days. Spectators will be on the edge of their seats as the versatility, talent, and courage of the American Mustang are showcased through anything from a mustang playing soccer to jumping over obstacles at liberty.
 

On May 20, horse lovers can watch Extreme Mustang Makeover events for free from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. This time will include a trail class and an exciting freestyle competition for the youth trainers and their mustangs. At 4:00 pm, the mustangs and trainers will be in the Jacksonville Equestrian Center barns to meet and greet fans.
 

While meeting the mustangs, don’t forget about a different kind of horsepower: the Jacksonville Mustang Car Club will be on site with 15 – 20 unique mustang models on display beginning at 8:00 am on May 20.
 

Visitors can also make a big splash at the Family Fun Day in the Olympic-sized pool adjacent to the Jacksonville Equestrian Center’s property, which will be open for swimming from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. There will be a $1.00 fee for Duval county residents and a $1.50 fee for all others.

Visitors are encouraged to bring just a few dollars for the food and snack concessions available around the facility.
 

There will be plenty for free events for kids from noon to 5:00 pm on May 20. Totally free festivities will include pony rides, a petting zoo, a bounce house, a magic show, face painting, and balloon animals. Parking is free, too!
 

Jacksonville’s popular radio station Gator Country 99.9 FM won’t be missing the event – Gator Country’s Matt Basford will be broadcasting live from the Jacksonville Equestrian Center from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, and will be offering plenty of prizes to everyone at the facility. Prizes will include buy-one-get-one-free horse back riding coupons for the nearby Diamond D ranch, concert tickets, tickets to the Extreme Mustang Makeover Top Ten Freestyle Final on Saturday night, and more.
 

Anyone interested in staying after the Free Family Fun Day may purchase a ticket to the Extreme Mustang Makeover Top Ten Freestyle Finals, which will be held at 6:00 pm on May 20. The top ten trainers and their mustangs will try to out-do each others’ performances by leaving audiences’ jaws dropping at their uniquely spectacular feats. All adult trainers’ mustangs will be available for adoption after the final performance via a competitive bid. Tickets to the Freestyle Final ($15.00 plus tax) can be purchased here.
