The City’s Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commission, along with partners Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront and Downtown Vision, are seeking volunteers for the 6^th Annual Earth Day Downtown Cleanup. Residents and volunteers, along with support from local businesses, will pick up litter in the area inside of Liberty, Water, Jefferson and Church streets.

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd., a global leader in the solar industry, will build a new state-of-the-art solar panel manufacturing facility in Jacksonville. The new facility will create 200 new manufacturing jobs and will begin production of high efficiency solar panels beginning this year.  
 

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Jacksonville area added 18,100 new private-sector jobs in the last year, creating the fourth-highest number of jobs among all Florida metro areas. Jacksonville’s unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in February, down 0.8 percentage point from one year ago. Statewide, Florida businesses created more than 25,000 new jobs in February bringing the total number of new private-sector jobs created in Florida to nearly 1.5 million since December 2010.

Each year, our country celebrates Black History Month, an observance recognizing the people and events that exemplify African-American achievement throughout U.S. history. From people including elected officials, educators and activists, to places such as museums and parks, Jacksonville is rich with African-American history.

February has been declared American Heart Month by the American Heart Association. Throughout the observance, citizens are encouraged to adopt a healthier lifestyle by making more heart-healthy choices including increased physical activity and eating a healthy diet.
