The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful will join with several shredding companies for the fourth annual America Recycles Day in November.
The communitywide recycling collection event, a nationwide initiative by Keep America Beautiful, will be held at the following locations and times on Friday, Nov. 14:
  • Prime Osborn Convention Center, 1000 Water Street, 12 p.m. –5 p.m.
  • Kmart, 500 Atlantic Boulevard in Neptune Beach, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The local chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA), Iron Mountain, Ultra Shred Technologies and EnvironMETAL Recycling will join again with KJB and program partner Republic Services Recycling Center in the popular annual event.

Last year, more than  11,000 pounds of paper were collected and shredded, and 1350 pounds of cardboard, 238 pairs of shoes, 45 cell phones, and more than 100 pounds of school supplies were collected.

This year at the Kmart site, Iron Mountain and Ultra Shred will have trucks on site to collect and shred paper. Additionally, volunteers will be collecting gently worn shoes, blankets, coats, towels and sporting equipment to benefit the Jacksonville Humane Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of North East Florida, Lions Club International, and Soles 4 Souls.

At the Prime Osborn Convention Center, Republic Services Recycling Center staff will again set up and staff its shred truck, which allows recyclers to watch as their paper is shredded.  Both sites will collect recycled materials for Teacher Supply Depot. Those materials can include office supplies, school supplies, and arts and crafts supplies.
