City Hall - St. James, Atrium
117 W. Duval St.
Jacksonville, FL 32202
The Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commission (KJB) will host its fifth educational fundraising event to honor St. Johns Riverkeeper Executive Director Jimmy Orth for his conservation and beautification advocacy. The event will also recognize site captains, sponsors, volunteers, partners and organizations for their efforts to clean up and beautify Jacksonville during KJB events in 2014.
Riverkeeper Executive Director Jimmy Orth will be presented with the Jake Godbold Award, and there will be a silent auction, live music and refreshments.

The Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commission is comprised of representatives from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors appointed by the mayor of Jacksonville.

An affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, KJB was created in 1983 to support community beautification, enhance community pride and improve the quality of life in Jacksonville through provision of outreach and educational activities and programming. It has won a number of awards for its work, including two national awards from Keep America Beautiful in 2014.

Among its major annual activities are the annual St. John’s River Celebration Cleanup, the International Coastal Cleanup, America Recycles Day and the Right Whale Festival Cleanup. Programs include the Adopt-A-Road program and the Clean Business Program, which encourages local businesses to maintain the visual vitality of their properties.

In FY 2014, 6,596 volunteers picked up 141,800 pounds of trash, improving Jacksonville’s visual vitality and making it a more attractive place to live and do business.

Admission to the event is free, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Hubbard Construction, Citi, Republic Services, State Farm, the City of Jacksonville and Commission member Jim Love. All proceeds from the silent auction will support the activities and programs sponsored by Keep Jacksonville Beautiful.
