The U.S. Men’s National Team returns to Jacksonville for the start of its critical summer campaign when they face Scotland on May 26 at EverBank Field. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET, and the match will be shown live on the NBC Sports Network in the channel’s debut broadcast of a U.S. National Team game, as well as the Univision family of networks. This year’s festival will continue the tradition of jazz in Jacksonville with a variety of jazz genres and featured activities in the heart of downtown Jacksonville. Special components include Art in the Heart Downtown, a juried art show and sale, and the Wine Down/Brew Town Tasting Experience featuring a variety of fine wines and craft beers. Other activities include the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition presented by Keyboard Connection Pianos & Organs, ‘Round Midnight Jazz Jams, Generation Next Youth Talent Competition, jazz brunch, exhibits and displays.

Mayor Brown’s Business Builder is a program designed to help small businesses gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed and to help connect entrepreneurs with capital and credit. Seminars and workshops provide an opportunity for small business owners to navigate the array of private and government resources available to help businesses succeed. Enrollment is free, however registration is required.

Book Club members and their families are invited to celebrate reading at four of Jacksonville’s museums. This FREE event will feature literacy-themed activities, make-and-take crafts and story times throughout the day. Start at the museum of your choice and see if you can “hop” to all four before it ends!

The City of Jacksonville is proud to be a participant in THE PLAYERS Military and Veterans Job Fair, a first-year event at THE PLAYERS Championship, held at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. This event affords military-friendly companies the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to hiring military personnel transitioning from military service.

The City of Jacksonville will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the World of Nations Celebration presented by OneMain Financial with an International Party and Fireworks Show on Friday, May 4. The fireworks, sponsored by Pyro Shows and Lidu America, will be shot from a river barge behind Metropolitan Park and can be seen along the downtown riverfront. Other festivities include internationally-themed entertainment and party giveaways.

As you travel through the World of Nations Celebration, experience the cuisine, artistry and customs from lands near and far. Admission is $5 (One Day Ticket), $8 (Two Day Ticket) or $10 (Three Day Ticket). Children ages 3 and under are free. Grab your passport and join us for a great trip!

The City of Jacksonville’s Planning and Development Department in partnership with Riverside Avondale Preservation will host the Restore Jacksonville conference. This five-day program will provide valuable information for homeowners, preservation enthusiasts and contractors, from researching the history of one’s home to navigating the city’s review processes.

Mayor Alvin Brown with Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner will welcome two French Navy Tall Ships, the Belle Poule and Etoile, as they moor at the Northbank Riverwalk in Downtown Jacksonville. The ships, which arrived from France, are sailing from Mayport to commemorate the 450th Anniversary of French Huguenot Captain Jean Ribault’s arrival in Northeast Florida.

Restaurants and retailers across Jacksonville are joining in the celebration of 450 years of French history in Jacksonville by offering special promotions and dishes including French-themed dining options during French Week, which is Thursday, April 26-Sunday, May 6.
