The U.S. Men’s National Team returns to Jacksonville for the start of its critical summer campaign when they face Scotland on May 26 at EverBank Field. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET, and the match will be shown live on the NBC Sports Network in the channel’s debut broadcast of a U.S. National Team game, as well as the Univision family of networks. This year’s festival will continue the tradition of jazz in Jacksonville with a variety of jazz genres and featured activities in the heart of downtown Jacksonville. Special components include Art in the Heart Downtown, a juried art show and sale, and the Wine Down/Brew Town Tasting Experience featuring a variety of fine wines and craft beers. Other activities include the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition presented by Keyboard Connection Pianos & Organs, ‘Round Midnight Jazz Jams, Generation Next Youth Talent Competition, jazz brunch, exhibits and displays.

The City of Jacksonville is proud to be a participant in THE PLAYERS Military and Veterans Job Fair, a first-year event at THE PLAYERS Championship, held at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. This event affords military-friendly companies the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to hiring military personnel transitioning from military service.
“This is a great example of public-private partnership working for the brave men and women who put it all on the line for our safety,” said Mayor Brown. The mayor elevated military affairs to a Cabinet level position to grow Jacksonville’s reputation as the most military-friendly city in the nation.

The City of Jacksonville will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the World of Nations Celebration presented by OneMain Financial with an International Party and Fireworks Show on Friday, May 4. The fireworks, sponsored by Pyro Shows and Lidu America, will be shot from a river barge behind Metropolitan Park and can be seen along the downtown riverfront. Other festivities include internationally-themed entertainment and party giveaways.

Mayor Alvin Brown with Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner will welcome two French Navy Tall Ships, the Belle Poule and Etoile, as they moor at the Northbank Riverwalk in Downtown Jacksonville. The ships, which arrived from France, are sailing from Mayport to commemorate the 450th Anniversary of French Huguenot Captain Jean Ribault’s arrival in Northeast Florida.
