Ju'Coby Pittman, District 10

Councilwoman, Ju’Coby Pittman is a proud native of Jacksonville, who has devoted her career to the advancement of city services, veteran advocacy, and innovative community development.  Her public service has been guided by a simple philosophy, “Go out of your comfort zone to make a difference”. Her leadership, experience, and vision, she believes have prepared her to continue a second term to serve on the Jacksonville City Council. She understands that to effectively work on behalf of the citizens of District 10, it is her responsibility to understand the needs, serve as the voice of the citizens and leverage her leadership skills with a hands-on approach to promote progress.  She has served the Jacksonville community faithfully for more than 35 years.
 
Currently, on the City Council, she is the Chair of Transportation, Energy & Utilities(TEU), and a member of the Finance Committee. She has had the opportunity to serve on the Land Use & Zoning(LUZ), Rules, and Vice-Chair of Waterways. Pittman has served on several committees during her term which includes: Chair- Jacksonville Small & Emerging Business, Vice Chair-Neighborhoods, Community Service, Public Health & Safety(NCSPHS). Special Committees/Liaisons include: Special Committee on Critical Quality of Life Issues(CQLIC), Transportation Planning Organization(TPO), Florida Association of Counties, Jacksonville Transportation Authority Board(JTA), Mental Health & Opioids, Downtown Vision, Parks & Quality Life, Personnel Committee and Zoological Society Board,
 
Councilwoman Pittman has been the CEO/President of the Clara White Mission for 30 years; and she continues the legacy of Founder, Dr. Eartha White by being a nonprofit leader and an innovator in human services and anti-poverty advocacy. Community engagement has kept her at the forefront of Jacksonville’s progress to develop programs that promote economic growth and neighborhood revitalization.  She is the visionary behind the Clara White Mission’s veteran services, vocational training program, job placement, affordable housing programs and White Harvest Farms. She was featured on the NBC “Today Show” for developing innovative training programs like the CWM Culinary Arts, Janitorial-Construction Clean-Up, Electrical and Environmental Safety & Agriculture Safety Training through National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER).
 
She has been able to engage and mobilize constituents and government to work collaboratively to address neighborhood concerns with a holistic approach while improving the visual and quality of life for residents in District 10.
 
She has served on the transition team(s) of Jacksonville’s Mayor’s:  John Delaney, John Peyton, Alvin Brown and Lenny Curry. She is a member of Leadership Jacksonville, Leadership Florida, Civitan’s, Junior League and the Downtown Rotary Club. She worships at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
 
 
Pittman, has received numerous of accolades for her commitment and leadership to our community.  Some of her achievements includes: The Eve Award for Employment, the FBI Community Leadership Award, Leadership Jacksonville Award, Mayor’s Commission on the Statues of Woman, Jacksonville Business Journal “Women of Influence,” Jessie Ball duPont Leadership Award, Mary Singleton Award, and CDBG Award for Community Revitalization.
 
Councilwoman Pittman looks forward to continuing implementing her platform goals of
(1) Economic development and revitalization, (2) Implementing a larger vision to help build on District 10 and its assets, (3) Collaborating with law enforcement, community and neighborhoods to reduce criminal activities. Pittman is on a mission to economize, revitalize and develop.
 
She holds dual degrees in business administration from Florida State College in Jacksonville (Associate in Arts Degree) and Jones College (Bachelor of Science Degree).  Additionally, she was honored with a Doctorate of Humane Letters by Jones College and serves as one of the institution’s most accomplished alumna.  She is the proud parent of two children.
