During his second year in office, Daniel was the recipient of the 2004-2005 Charles D. Webb Award, the City Council's most prestigious internal honor.

Daniel serves as a board member of the Boselli Foundation and was appointed by the Governor to serve on the State Impact Fee Committee. His previous Council assignments have included Chairman of the Finance Committee and the Recreation, Community Development, and Education Committee and membership on various standing committees including the Rules Committee, Growth Management Committee and Value Adjustment Board. For the 2007-2008 Council Year, Daniel was elected as President of the City Council and served as Chair of the Personnel Committee.

Following his service on the Jacksonville City Council, Daniel Davis served in the Florida Legislature.
