Crash Information
Since 2004, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has prioritized resources and technical assistance to states and cities that exhibit the highest pedestrian and bicycle fatalities and/or fatality rates. Through this Focused Approach to Safety, the state of Florida was designated as a Focus State, and the City of Jacksonville was designated a Focus City. In 2021, these designations were adjusted, as detailed in a USDOT memo, to include Focus States and Focus MPO/Regions. Currently, Florida remains a Focus State, and Jacksonville is located within a designated Focus MPO/Region (North Florida Transportation Planning Organization region).

  • Signal Four Analytics provides an interactive dashboard and mapping tool for bike-ped crashes, derived from Florida’s statutory custodian of records, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV).
  • The Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) ConnectPed mapping system allows the public to view reported bicycle and pedestrian crashes, crash typing, as well as keyhole lanes, transit stops, and a myriad of other GIS layers. The ConnectPed overview page provides more info.
  • FDOT's Safety Crash Data Guidance may be used by Transportation Professionals to provide guidance on building complete crash data sets using the most recent data available, as required in FDOT manuals for various safety analyses.
  • FDOT's Open Data Hub  can be used to search for “Florida NonMotorist Fatal and Serious Injuries” using their queries tool.
  • FDOT's District 2-specific (includes City of Jacksonville) Community Traffic Safety Program 2022 Crash Facts
  • FLHSMV provide their informational Traffic Crash Facts Report annually “to provide lawmakers, partners and stakeholders, the media, and citizens with important facts and valuable information related to public safety and motor services.”
