Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton was today joined by Robert Schuster, chairman of the Environmental Protection Board; Sarah Boren, executive director of the Green Team Project and other leaders in the sustainable building industry as he signed a bill (2009-211) approved by the Jacksonville City Council creating a sustainable buildings program in the City of Jacksonville.

The Honorable Mayor Beto Richa of Curitiba, Brazil, joined Mayor John Peyton and members of the Jacksonville Sister Cities Program and the Brazil-Jacksonville Alliance for the official signing of an international sister cities agreement between Curitiba, Brazil, and Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton today announced two hirings which will further strengthen the City of Jacksonville's support for the local military. Peyton has appointed retired Navy Capt. Robert (Bob) Buehn as the new chief of the city's Military Affairs, Veterans and Disabled Services Division. In addition, R.J. Natter ;amp; Associates, LLC, led by retired Navy Adm. Robert Natter, has been selected to assist the city's military advocacy and lobbying efforts.

Corrine Brown, Jacksonville City Council President Ronnie Fussell, and other government and community leaders gathered today to outline a structure for how the city will administer the local elements of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, opportunities for additional funding from the act and the crucial role those dollars will play in stimulating the local economy.
