This course explores the fundamentals of the Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business (JSEB) Program as well as effective core principles in the City of Jacksonville’s Procurement process. Students will be provided applicable skills that equip them to better understand the JSEB Program and to effectively do business with the City of Jacksonville. Some of the course topics are as follows: JSEB Program benefits, How to Search for Bidding Opportunities, and How to Write a Bid Proposal.

The Equal Business Opportunity Office is partnering with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Florida to present to you the 2nd annual PTAC Small Business Government Contracting Series. This cohort is specifically designed for small business owners in efforts to help prepare them for the world of Government Contracting. If you are in dire need of Procurement and Contracting assistance, this cohort can provide you with the knowledge that will grow and elevate your procurement business needs. The cohort duration is 6 months where classes meet for 1, four-hour day per month. The cost is free to JSEB vendor business owners. Please note that this is a monthly commitment. You will only be awarded a cohort completion certificate IF you complete and attend ALL courses.

This cohort is a 5-month Program series created to enhance the development of locally owned small businesses with a newly established business focus. The Program will act as a pathway to gain knowledge about Organizational Development, Financial Intelligence, and Estimating and Proposal Writing. After completing the JSEB Bootcamp, business owners will be better equipped to not only do business with the City of Jacksonville, but to compete at an expansive level. Most importantly, owners will have the tools and knowledge to effectively operate their business. The cohort duration is 5 months where classes meet for 1, two-hour evening per month. This Boot Camp includes the content for Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Excel courses. The introductory course will help students to get started with Microsoft Excel 2019. It will also teach them how to work with formulas and functions, format a worksheet, work with charts, and analyze data using formulas. The intermediate course builds upon the foundational skills introduced in the Basic Excel course. Learn how to manage workbook data, use tables, analyze table data, automate worksheet tasks, enhance charts and use "what if" analysis. Advanced Microsoft Excel 2019 will teach learners how to develop charts and pivot tables and how to analyze such data in these formats. Learners will also be introduced to Macros, VLookup, Index, and Match.

Public Service Grant Application Workshop hybrid in-person/virtual training
on May 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM, May 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM, and June 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM. These workshops are offered in-person at the
Ed Ball Building 8th Floor Main Conference Room (851), 214 North Hogan Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202 and virtually through the Zoom video and audio application. The public is invited to attend these workshops in-person or via the Zoom video and audio application. Attendance is required for any agency who wishes to apply for a Public Service Grant. Applicants can attend either of the workshops, attendance at multiple workshops is not required.

This course introduces the Python programming language and teaches topics found on the PCEP certification exam developed by the Python Institute. This includes basic Python language features and building and running Python programs. Detailed topics include data types, collections (lists, tuples, dictionaries), selection and repetition statements, functions, and file I/O. Students will develop and implement a variety of Python programs and take practice quizzes which will prepare them for the PCEP exam.
