On Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 1:00 PM, Council Member Al Ferraro interviewed Dr. Saman Soleymani, Avecina Medical Founder and President, for the City of Jacksonville’s Hometown Hero Series.
During the interview, Dr. Soleymani expanded upon his experience as a Middle Eastern immigrant and adolescent — including how he overcame war, language barriers, and bullying — to become the prominent Jacksonville-based physician and philanthropist he is today.

Council Member Al Ferraro Spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for Jax Spine and Pain Centers Colloaboration with UF Health. The Centurion Surgery Center will be the area's largest freestanding multispecialty surgery center (54,000 total square footage.) The surgery center aims to drive down the costs of healthcare by safely perfoming complex procedures in an outpatient setting.

Council Member Al Ferraro held a Community Meeting at Sheffield Park to discuss 2020-661 an application for Planned Unit Development that seeks to rezone approximately 10.36 acres
of land from Residential Rural-Acre (RR-Acre) to PUD. The rezoning to a PUD is being sought to allow for up to 17 single family lots. During the meeting lot size, buffering, drainage and combined driveways were discussed.

Sheriff’s Watch Neighborhood Crime Prevention Walk

Council Member Al Ferraro joined Lieutenant Will and JSO officers that patrol the area on A Sheriff’s Watch Neighborhood Crime Prevention Walk through the Harbour Woods Neighborhood. These walks promote a better relationship between JSO and the public. Council Member Ferraro offers help to the neighbors with any city issues.

Council Member Al Ferraro joined local residents at the grand opening of the Bogey Creek Preserve. The Preserve is the first public park opened by the North Florida Land Trust and consists of 75 acres of maritime hammock forest, seep-fed cypress swamps and mixed pine forest. It neighbors Pumpkin Hill Creek and Timucuan Ecological Preserve; and is open to the public seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.

Council Member Al Ferraro joined Mayor Lenny Curry and the Public Works Department to fix potholes at Whitaker and Cold Storage roads in the Northside of District 2. Employees of Public Works guided CM Ferraro and Mayor Curry through the laborious and time-intensive process involved in pothole removal. Department employees correct around 1,600 potholes every year.
