Wednesday (4/3/2019), Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman, partnered with Suits for Seniors and Rubenstein Law Firm to Kick-Off the “Suits for Seniors” initiative at Raines Senior High and Ribault Senior High School. The eight week initiative is devoted to serving high-risk students in underserved communities and schools to make a long impact in leadership, financial literacy, life skills, college and career readiness and preparedness. Once completed students will receive a certificate and a custom made suit for each students. As a part of the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful initiative, Councilwoman Pittman participated in the St. Johns River Celebration 24th Annual Cleanup by hosting a District 8 Cleanup site and crew in the Moncrief Springs neighborhood.
District 8 Ambassadors, volunteers, and community members came out to help beautify the neighborhood by removing litter and debris. We collected 30 bags of trash in 3 hours.

Council Member Pittman provided a tour of City Council offices and provided an overview of local government for legislators visiting from the Russian Delegation. Guests included Mr. Dimitrii Sokolov, Deputy of Yaroslav City; Mr. Sergei Zanin, Deputy of Osa Township Duma; Mr. Ilya Kravchenko, Deputy of Volgograd City Duma; Ms. Natalia Bobreshova, Member of the United Russia faction in the Beloyarsk City Council of Deputies; and Ms. Daria Samolyanets, Head of the United Russia faction in the Pyatigorsk City Duma. The event was hosted by GlobalJax, a local nonprofit organization that partners with the US State Department and US Congress on international development and public diplomacy projects.
