Former Council Member Lynette SelfLynette Self is a native of Jacksonville and has lived in the district she now serves for 45 years.

Active in the community, Self is an appointed Board Member of the Police Athletic League. Self also continues to be active in business organizations such as Downtown Council, Chamber of Commerce, Women Business Owners, Junior Achievement Board Member, Sail Jax., Inc., the First Coast Manufacturers' Association and Northeast Florida Safety Council Board.

She has owned Rose of Sharon European Florist in Lakewood for 20 years. Her past involvement in the community includes being a member of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce's Board of Governors and Executive Committee, a member of former Mayor Ed Austin's Affordable Housing Commission, past president of the Chamber's Downtown Council, and former Finance Chair for the Special Olympics. She is a past recipient of the Chambers' Downtown Council Small Business Leader of the Year Award.

 

Self was honored with the Community Connections 2000 'A Tribute to Excellence' Award and was the 2001-2002 recipient of the Charles E. Webb Award presented to the outstanding council member of the year. She was selected as Jacksonville's 2003 Woman Business Owner of the Year by the Women Business Owners of North Florida.

 

Self has been married to her husband, Lake, for 28 years. They have two children, Paul and Natalie.
