Matt Carlucci was elected to the City Council to represent District 5 in April, 1999. This Jacksonville native was no stranger to public service. He served two terms as an at-large member of the Council from 1987 to 1994, and his father, the late Joe Carlucci, served as a Council Member during the city's consolidation process and later became a state senator.

Matt served as the 2000-2001 City Council Vice President and the 2001-2002 City Council President.

His long time commitment to public service included:

  • Jacksonville Chapter of the Freedoms Foundation

Matt was an agent with State Farm Insurance and graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor's degree in Education in 1978. His honors included the Jacksonville Historical Society Milestone Award (2002), National Exchange Club's Proudly We Hail Award (2002), Southside Business Men's Club Outspoken Citizen Award (2001), Jacksonville Insurance Association Community Service Award (2001), Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission Award (1999), Celebrate Independence Public Service Award (1999), the Claude J. Yates Outstanding Councilman of the Year Award (1992), the Charles D. Webb Award (1992), and the UNF Outstanding Alumnus Award (1987).
