Ronald B. Salem, Pharm. D., is currently the Director of PharMerica-Jacksonville, a long term care pharmacy. Dr. Salem was appointed by Governor Bush to the Florida Board of Pharmacy in 2003. He was reappointed by Governor Crist for a second term in 2007 and served as Chairman of the Board in 2007 and 2009. Prior to his service on the board, he was appointed to the Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA) Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee by Governor Bush where he served from 2001-2003. Dr. Salem served as Chairman in 2001. He received his Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Pharmacy in 1978 and 1980, respectively from the University of Florida.
Dr. Salem has also been involved in community activities in the Jacksonville area. He has served as chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Better Jacksonville Plan. Dr. Salem also served as Chairman of the Greater Arlington Citizens Planning and Advisory Committee (CPAC), for two years. He was a member of the Jacksonville Sports and Entertainment Board from 1999-2013 and served as Chairman on four different occasions. Dr. Salem served on the Jacksonville Sports Council from its inception as an appointment by Mayor Lenny Curry.
Councilman Salem presently serves as Chairman of the Transportation, Energy and Utilities Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee and the Special Committee on Social Justice and Community Investment. He also chairs the Special Committee on the Opioid Epidemic for the City of Jacksonville. Councilman Salem is the Council liaison to the Jacksonville Port Authority and is a member of Jacksonville’s Tree Commission.
Dr. Salem is married to the former Nancy Hanania and has three children and five grandchildren.
