Background

As discussed at the City Council meeting on September 22, 2020, beginning January 2021, Council President Hazouri commenced a series of workshops on community policing, policies, procedures, and budgeting, which will be noticed as "Safer Together." Several Council Members raised a number of questions that would require subject matter experts to speak to.

Charge

These workshops shall continue to provide a venue for these experts to share their knowledge with members of this body and the general public, and an opportunity for individuals to share the experiences which shaped their attitude regarding our policing community.  As of, July 12, 2021, I am hereby extending the convening of these workshops.

These workshops will continue to be fact finding in nature with the goal of fostering constructive dialogue about the challenges, successes, and opportunities available to us to make this a safer community for all our citizens. Subjects will include but not limited to the following:

Safer Together Community Discussions on Community Policing, Policies, Procedures and Budgeting.

Deadline

The results and recommendations of the Safer Together workshops will be provided in a report to the Council at the final July 2022 Council meeting.
